Boy, residents of Michigan, we are a very lucky bunch.
We've got great lakes, "up north," fairly good sports teams to root for and a governor with a wicked sense of humor. I mean really. She's a stitch.
Today, she announced a new website to help the good people of Michigan save money on everything from gas, to college, to health care, to things around the house.
Thing is, I couldn't find any link to the Michigan Department of Treasury to show me how to avoid paying the increase in Income Tax the governor pushed last year that is hitting residents now, at the same time gas prices, food prices and tuition prices soar. I also couldn't find any helpful hints for business owners on how to pass off the massive bill resulting from the new Michigan Business Tax or the big surcharge that got thrown on top for good measure.
Delivering a comedic message like this with a straight face takes some genuine skill. I mean, her website is a real thigh slapper, considering no single leader in Michigan over the last 17 years has been more responsible for increasing the cost of living for Michigan residents than Governor Granholm.
Good one, guv. Keep em' coming.

Easy, that took some R's to put into place too. The reforms have been made. MI has cut a quarter of the GF since Engler left office. Government is now appropriately-sized. Let's solve some problems now.
BLAH!
No doubt, there are Republicans responsible for raising taxes too, and they also deserve mocking.
We can debate the appropriate size and shape of our state government, but my point was more to the inappropriately gigantic size of gall it requires to raise taxes and then hold a news conference lamenting the fact that things cost more for average folks.
And P.S.
Did a little checking... Engler's last budget in 2002 had general fund spending at $8.83 billion. Last year's budget has general fund spending at $9.85 billion.
I like how the Governor is now riding her bike to work. I can just envision her and Dan Mulhern on a tandem bike peddling down MLK to to the Capitol.
Republican's are definitely the problem. Tax cut and spend Republican's ruined the state budget.
Government is no where near appropriatley-sized. For one, we spend way too much on local government.
Well, Chooch, in light of the graph you emailed, I stand corrected. MI has not, apparently, cut 1/4 of its budget since Engler's last term. Just wanted to make public recognition of your excellent research department at LWMO.
